Litchfield County's Chute Gates Steakhouse, located in the village of Terryville at 372 Main St. (Route 6), announced that it would close for the last time on Sunday, Feb. 18.

In a post on social media, the Western-themed restaurant's owners did not give a reason for the closure but took the chance to thank everyone who visited the eatery.

"We would like to thank all of our customers for their support along with any continued support up until the final night," the owners wrote.

They added that reservations would still be accepted until the closure, but no more gift cards would be sold. Those holding outstanding gift cards are asked to redeem them now.

The sad news garnered hundreds of comments on social media.

"Truly heartbreaking. Great place to forget about things with the staff, band, and food," wrote Stephanie C. of Torrington.

Jim C. also expressed a similar sentiment, writing, "Thank you Chute Gates for the last 25 years of always providing us great meals and good warm hospitality by the staff."
